The Carbon High School girls’ basketball team has extended its winning streak to four games after bringing home a win against rival Emery High School on Tuesday. The Dinos secured the 46-38 victory to bring their non-region record to a solid 9-1, but it wasn’t without a battle.
The Dinos and Spartans were tied at the end of both the first and second periods, going into halftime with 21 points each. However, the Dinos came out of the break rejuvenated and scored 14 points while holding the Spartans to just seven of their own. The Dinos outscored the Spartans again in the final period by one point in able to hold on to their lead and secure the win.
For the Dinos, junior Lindsey Blanc scored a team-high 16 points on four field goals and eight free throws. Senior Morgan Hillam scored nine points on four field goals and one free throw. Defensively, senior Sara Morley once again led the Dinos with 13 rebounds, six offensive and seven defensive.
Carbon will take to the road on Tuesday to play at West before returning home to play Fruita Monument on Jan. 2 at 2:45 p.m.
