CHS Girls’ Basketball tallies two wins, 8-1 overall

By Sierra Trujillo

The Carbon High School girls’ basketball team came away 2-0 last week, with wins over Uintah High School and Park City High School on Thursday and Friday, respectively.
Three minutes after the start of Thursday’s game against Uintah, Dino senior Jordan Scoggins went down with a knee injury and was helped off of the court. She did not return in the game.
“I think she’ll be back but if there’s a chance that she’s not then we’re obviously going to miss her and the rest of the kids are going to have to step up and fill her shoes, which are huge shoes to fill,” said head coach Ted Bianco.
The Dinos were still able to come away with the commanding 56-35 win over Uintah, in large part thanks to the contributions of senior Sara Morley and junior Lindsey Blanc. Morley scored 16 points in the game, a team high, while also tallying seven rebounds. Blanc was close behind with 15 points, which included two three-pointers, as well as three rebounds.
“They stepped up and did some great things tonight,” said Bianco. “Lindsey’s a great defensive player and really does a lot of good things offensively and Sara’s a big time rebounder for us. She plays good defense and scores. They did their job which is what we expect.”
The Dinos were without Scoggins again on Friday when they took to the road to play Park City and came home with the 55-44 win. Morley and Blanc again led the Dinos, with Morley scoring 18 points and Blanc scoring 15. Morley also tallied a stellar 15 rebounds in the game.
The Dinos, now 8-1 in non-region play, look to continue their preseason success on Tuesday with an away game against Emery High School at 7 p.m. The Dinos will then take a week and a half vacation for the holidays before facing Fruita High School at home on Jan. 2 at 2:45 p.m.
