10 things shorter than the Warriors winning streak

By Sierra Trujillo

It should come as no surprise that as soon as I wrote a column about the Golden State Warriors’ winning streak, it would come to an end very soon after. Four days after to be exact. But, I just couldn’t help myself and decided to write one more article about the Warriors before they become old news.
The Warriors set the NBA record for best start of a season at 24-0. But they fell short of setting the record for longest winning streak, which the Los Angeles Lakers hold at 33. The Warriors overall winning streak was 28 games, which includes four games from the end of the 2014-15 regular season.
Total, that adds up to 247 days of winning for the Golden State Warriors. Now I know this encompasses a few months during which the Warriors were not winning regular season basketball games (you know, post-season, winning the NBA Championship, off-season, etc.), but techincally they weren’t losing basketball games either. So without further ado, I did some research and here are 10 things shorter than the Warriors winning streak (247 days):
1. Kim Kardashian’s marriage to NBA player Kris Humphries- 72 days
Yes, I went there right at the start. I just find this hilarious and I don’t think it needs an explanation.
2. The amount of time it took for Stephenie Meyer to write Twilight- 90 days
Meyer claims that she had a dream to write this novel and in just three short months, she had done it. Yeah, we can tell.
3. Writing of the United States’ Constitution- 116 days
While there were many drafts of the Constitution written, from the start of the Constitutional Convention (May 25, 1787) to the end (Sept. 17, 1787) a total of 116 days went into the process.
4. A season of American Idol- 119 days
In order to find our next Carrie Underwood or Kelly Clarkson, it would take less than half of the Warriors winning streak.
5. Time Martha Stewart spent behind bars- 148 days
Stewart reported to Federal Prison Camp Alderson in West Virginia on Oct. 8, 2004 and spent 148 making a prison cell feel more homey before being released on March 4, 2005.
6. The filming process of Titanic- 160 days
Yeah, that includes the epic freezing cold water scene (“I’ll never let go, Jack.”) as well as a full-time etiquette coach that was hired for the movie.
7. The 2011 NBA Lockout- 161 days
The lockout began on July 1 and lasted until Dec. 8. and the league played its first game of the season on Christmas Day.
8. Trump’s presidency campaign- 184 days & counting
I know you don’t believe me on this one because it feels like this has been going on for three years. But Trump announced his candidacy on June 16 of this year. And, yes, we’ve all been scratching our heads ever since.
9. The time it took for Bill Clinton to admit that he did “have sexual relations with that woman”- 204 days
From the date of the infamous “sexual relations” quote (Jan. 26, 1998) until Clinton finally admitted that he had an “improper physical relationship” with Monica Lewinsky (Aug. 17, 1998) 204 days had passed. Hah.
10. The Spanish-American War- 8 months
This one is a bit iffy, because the Warriors’ winning streak amounts to eight months, three days and there is not a definite end date to the war. But records say eight months and technically the Warriors winning streak is longer than eight months so there! (Don’t you love technicalities?)
