The Carbon High School girls’ basketball team went 2-1 on its road trip to Grand Junction over the weekend, picking up wins in its first two games over Grand Junction Central and Grand Junction before suffering a loss to Fruita Monument.
The Dinos picked up a 46-36 win over Grand Junction Central on Thursday to start their weekend at the tournament. Lindsey Blanc scored a team-high 14 points in the game with three field goals and eight free throws and Jordan Scoggins followed with 12 points on four field goals and four free throws. Defensively, Blanc also led the team with eight rebounds, four offensive and four defensive.
The Dinos also picked up a win on Friday over Grand Junction, defeating GJ by a 23 points margin. Grand Junction actually outscored the Dinos 9-8 in the first period, but while the Dinos picked up their scoring in the next three periods, they were also able to hold Grand Junction to only scoring single digits in each period.
Blanc again led the team in scoring with 17 points. Sara Morley led the team defensively with 12 rebounds, nine offensive and three defensive.
The Dinos hit a skid in their last game of the weekend, falling to Fruita Monument by a close score of 46-41. The Dinos only managed to score 11 points in the first half, but picked it up to keep the game close, but just could not come away with the victory. Morley led the team with 17 points while also tallying a team-high seven rebounds.
The Dinos, now 5-1 after suffering their first loss of the season, will play at North Sanpete on Tuesday before taking on Uintah at home on Thursday at 7 p.m.
