The recent flurry on social media about late, damaged or lost cards and money from local mail deliveries has been noticed by US Postal Service authorities.
Price Postmaster Ron Mendel said Wednesday that he is aware of the complaints and has forwarded the information to postal inspectors in Salt Lake City. Mendel said local Post Offices are not the investigative branch of the service and cannot comment on specific information that is being gathered.
However, he did say that victims are interviewed and complaints of theft investigated thoroughly.
Several area people have posted information and pictures of card and letter envelopes that have been torn. In some cases, the envelopes have delayed postmarks.
It is not definite in the Internet posts where in the delivery process the problems occurred – in mailboxes, before or after delivery, or at the Post Office.
