Sally Mauro opens its Balance Rock Gallery

By Sun Advocate

Italy has Florence, France has Paris and Carbon County has Helper as a place recognized for arts.
In addition to the flourishing Main Street art community, the younger set at Sally Mauro Elementary School now has added its own art Gallery, the Balance Rock.
Mike O’Shea, former principal of the school is curator. She’s asking anyone with art to show to contact the school.
The gallery experince mixes several disciplines. Youngsters get to see student and professional art on display. Then they have to pick a favorite and write about why they chose it.
Then they have to try their hands at recreating it.
The Balance Rock has been exhibiting works by artists Cliff and Janet Bergera. Also on display are oil and watercolor paintings created by students.
Winners in the each grade of the writing and art assignment will win a poster of the late Cliff Bergera’s “Blue Wolf.”
The exhibit is open to the public.
