Three local residents were taken to the hospital Friday morning after a single car accident in Indian Canyon. Utah Highway Patrol Trooper Bradley Shaw said a 1999 Olds Alero was northbound on U.S. 191 when for an as yet undetermined reason, it drifted off the right side of the road. The driver over-corrected and lost control, and the car crashed into a large boulder at the side of the road near mile marker 261, just north of the Carbon/Duchesne County line.
Trooper Shaw said a male passenger who was sleeping in the back seat was ejected from the vehicle, while two women in the front seat were trapped inside and required extrication. He says the male passenger suffered a fractured collarbone and rib, and head trauma. The front seat passenger sustained arm, hip and neck injuries. Only the driver was using a seat belt. She received minor injuries in the accident, which is still under investigation.
