The Emery County Sheriff’s Office is following between 20 and 30 leads as it investigates a badly decomposed female body found along the Green River.
At about 1:00 p.m. on October 29 the Sheriff’s Dispatch Center received a call from a man who was floating the Green River and discovered the body on a sandbar about one mile south of the bridge where I-70 crosses the Green River.
There were no tracks around the body other than animal tracks, and it appeared the body washed up from the river. The State Medical Examiner’s Office determined that the body was that of a post-menopausal female, but that is the only information available so far.
ECSO Detectives and the State Medical Examiner’s Office are continuing their investigations as to cause of death, the circumstances surrounding death and to determine the identity of the deceased. The State Crime Lab will be assisting in the investigation.
Persons with information regarding a missing female, possibly between the ages of 50-65, are requested to contact the Emery County Sheriff’s Office at (435)381-2404.
