PRICE-Our beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather and beloved friend, Bill Madrigal, age 84, passed away November 4, 2015 at home while surrounded by his family.
He was born December 6, 1930 in Price, Utah to Rufino and Lucy Alcala Madrigal. Married Betty Medina, December 24, 1951 in Salt Lake City, Utah; she preceded him in death on December 27, 2013.
Bill was a lifelong resident of Carbon County and the proclaimed Mayor of “Little Hollywood”. He was a member of Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church. Bill was a dedicated member of the United Mine Workers of America and a retired employee of Kaiser Steel Local # 9958. Bill was a tireless worker who worked in numerous mines in Carbon County and the Pot Ash mine in Moab. He honorably served his country in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the VFW Miner’s Post # 2379.
Bill loved the outdoors, especially awaiting the annual deer hunt. He was an avid fisherman who could catch fish anywhere. Bill lived for his family and was a friend to all. He cherished his friendships and could joke with the best. Rest in peace Bill, you will be dearly missed by all.
Survived by three sons, two daughters and their spouses, Larry (Debra) Madrigal, Price, Barbara (John) Keyser, Holladay, Michael (Janel) Madrigal, Rifle, CO, Rudy (Michelle) Madrigal, Price, Sherry Forbes, Boulder City, NV; 12 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and his dog, Toby.
Preceded in death by parents, his loving wife of 62 years, Betty; brothers, Alex, Frank, Paul and Jim; and sisters, Sally, Amelia, Mercy and Maggie.
Funeral Mass, Saturday, November 7, 2015, 10:00 a.m., Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church. Vigil service, Friday evening 7:00 p.m. at the church in Price. Family will receive friends at Notre Dame Church Friday and Saturday one hour prior to services. Committal service, Price City Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Home of Price where friends are always welcome daily and may share memories of Bill at www.mitchellfuneralhome.net.
