Amy McGill

By Sun Advocate

FERRON: Haydee Amy McGill left this earth to meet her Heavenly Father on November 3, 2015 after a long and courageous battle with a brain tumor. Amy was born on May. 19, 1950 to Rafael and Haydee Chavez on Ft. Ord Military base in Monterey, CA. She graduated with honors from El Paso High School in El Paso, TX. Being born in a Military family, she was able to see many places around the world. One of her favorite places was spending the summer at her cousins mansion in Puerto Rico and one of her favorite childhood memories was swimming in the ocean in Spain.
Amy enjoyed swimming, ice skating and her little Sister Karen. Some of her proudest accomplishments was being the lead singer in the band, “The Electric Prunes” and winning the National softball championship while living in Germany. She was an amazing center fielder!
She met Walter K. McGill while he was stationed in Ft. Bliss, TX. They were later married in Winter Haven, AZ. They were blessed with four beautiful children and spent most of their time camping, fishing and hiking on the desert with friends and family. Amy was known for her practical jokes, kindness, forgiving disposition, her love for John Wayne and her ability to make friends wherever she went.
Amy is survived by her husband, Walter K. McGill of Ferron, UT; children, Gina, (Shawn) Swasey, Ferron, UT; Michelle (Shayne) Thompson, Ferron, UT; Liane (Mike) Kirby, Irvine, CA; five grandchildren, Trever, Aubrey, Daniel, Bailee and Sarah; one great grandchild, Oaklie and one on the way, baby Titan; four step grandchildren, Lynnsi, Holli, Kayleb, and Kaltin; one sister Karen Chavez of El Paso, TX. and one niece Lauren Miller, Phoenix, AZ.
