USU Eastern Chancellor Joe Peterson is bracketed by the parenthetical ribs of the sculpture in front of the college’s new Central Instructional Building during last Friday’s dedication ceremony. The chancellor said the iconic concrete and glass architecture symbolizes both “a sentinel and a showcase that says, ‘Come here, this is where we build our future.’”
Peterson spoke to a crowd of community members and university leaders who gathered on the terraced landscape facing the sculpture. The dedication recognized State Senator David Hinkins for his work in securing legislative support for the building, and also thanked the donors who got the project going. More photos are on page 2A
