The Carbon High School girls’ volleyball team went 0-2 at the 3A State tournament last week, with losses against Dixie High School and Park City High School.
Carbon lost to Dixie in four sets to start the tournament. The Dinos lost the first set 25-19, but came back to win the second set 25-22. However, the Dinos lost the next two sets 25-15 and 25-22, respectively, to move them into the losers’ bracket.
The Dinos were then eliminated from the tournament with a loss to Park City in five hard-fought sets. After losing the first two sets 25-19 and 25-20, the Dinos came back to win the next two 25-13 and 25-21. With the match forced to go into the final set, the Dinos challenged Park City, but lost 15-8 to end their season.
Carbon finishes the season 16-9 overall and 6-2 in Region 12, the Dinos’ best season since 2010, when they went 21-12 overall and 6-2 in Region 12 play.
The Dinos will lose six seniors with the conclusion of the 2015 season: Abby Robinson, Jordan Scoggins, Alex Thayn, Sara Morley, Nizhoni Marasco and Mallorie Bradley.
