Seems there has been controversy brewing about naming the Columbus Day holiday after a 15th Century adventurer who never set foot on the mainland and may not even have known what lay beyond the island he landed on. There’s also a debate on what to name the holiday if they drop Columbus. Talk about First World problems. Here’s a compromise proposal: just drop the ‘m’ and call it good. We can still close the banks and liquor stores, and have Colubus Day sales instead.
