CASTLE DALE – On October 2, after a courageous battle with cancer, we lost our beloved son, husband, father, grandfather and friend, Joseph Allen Anuskewic at 67 years young. Joe, as he was affectionately known by all, was born September 9, 1948 to Joseph F. and Nancy (Beam) Anuskewic in Wheeling, West Virginia. He graduated from St. Clairsville High School, St. Clairsville, Ohio, in 1967 and attended diesel mechanic training in Pittsburgh, PA. After joining the Navy in 1970, he married the love of his life, his “old gray mare”, on April 2, 1971. He served in the U.S. Navy until 1974, and was a Vietnam Era Veteran. Joe moved his family to Utah in 1980 and found his perfect job as a diesel mechanic at Energy West Mining, where he worked for 17 years.
Joe became a father for the first time in 1976, after selling his beloved 1963 Corvette. Two years later his favorite grandmother was reincarnated and he became father for the second time. He loved both of his girls very much and was the best dad they could have asked for.
Anybody who knew Joe knew he had a big heart. He loved mechanics and tinkering with things, and would help anybody who needed it, asking nothing in return. He had a great sense of humor and loved to joke and play around with everyone.
Joe is survived by his wife, Sue Anuskewic, Castle Dale; two daughters, Jody Anuskewic-Manzanares, Helper, and Julie Anuskewic-Miller, Castle Dale; two “sons”, Nick Manzanares and Jeff Miller; four grandchildren who meant the world to him, Devon, Layla, Erynn and Illeana; as well as his mother Nancy Anuskewic, brother Dennis (Cindy) Anuskewic and sister Darlene (Jay) Mehlman all of St. Clairsville, Ohio. Preceded in death by his father, grandparents and many relatives and friends.
Joe was a Master Mason and member of Carbon Lodge #16 as well as a member of Order of the Eastern Star Naomi Chapter #13. He was also a proud member of UMWA Local #2176 and the American Legion Post #159.
Joe’s family would like to thank everyone for their loving concern and support, especially Dr. Donaldson, Dr. Agarwal and the amazing staff at the Huntsman Cancer Institute. The family wilI be having a memorial service at later date. In lieu flowers, please make a donation in Joe’s name to the Huntsman Cancer Institute in Salt Lake City, Utah.
