Ben Dominguez

By Sun Advocate

PRICE – Ben Ernesto Dominguez, age 83, passed away May 26, 2015. He was born January 23, 1932 in Antonito, Colorado to Benancio and Esther Montoya Dominguez.
Ben grew up in southern Colorado. He only finished sixth grade but he went on to get his degree in the college of life. He farmed and ranched with his dad as a young boy and as a young man drove truck for Noble Trucking in Denver—we’ve heard so many stories of those days.
He was working as a foreman for T-Bone Ranch when he met the love of his life, Donna Clark Wilson. He went on to manage several different ranches with Donna helping him with books and feeding the hands.
In the early 80s Ben started his own farrier business. He and Donna traveled all over shoeing horses and mules. He was at home with someone famous or with a “regular ol’ Joe.”
Not only was he an accomplished rancher and farrier, he was a BORN entertainer. He sang everywhere, from his front room to the Cheyenne Rodeo Days.
His greatest love was spending time with his family and friends. He so loved his “hita’s y hito’s.” He knew how to make us all feel like we were his favorite. He felt so blessed that his grandson Derrick Wilson was able to spend time with him and help with his care during his final weeks.
Ben is survived by his children W.C. “Cub” (Patti) Wilson of Duchesne, Utah; Terri (William) McCurdy of Gusher, Utah; Jackie Lewis-Penner of Corvalis, Oregon; William C. (Grace) Wilson of Cushing, Oklahoma; Gail Carner of Hermiston, Oregon; George Wilson or Portland, Oregon; his sisters-in-law Evelyn Dominguez of Denver, Colorado; Rose Dominguez of Manassa, Colorado; Irene Dominguez of Antonito, Colorado; and Arlene Dominguez of Denver, Colorado; 20 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and last, but not least, his faithful companion “Pepe.”
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Donna, sister Grace Valdez, brothers Santiago James Dominguez, Carpio Dominguez, Dale Dominguez, Jose Maria Dominguez, son William Keith Lewis, daughter Leanne Wilson Dabel, and grandson W.C. “Willie” Wilson III.
A memorial service was held Monday, June 1, 2015 at 2 p.m. at Fausett Mortuary, 680 East 100 South, Price, Utah. Services were in the care of Fausett Mortuary. Family and friends may sign the guestbook and share memories of Ben at www.fausettmortuary.com.
