HELPER – William Callor, Sr., age 84, passed away April 9, 2015 at his home in Helper.
He was born Feb. 8, 1931in Price to Antonio Giuseppe Catona Callor and Louise Marchese.
Married Raiko “Sakiko” Matsui, Sept. 9, 1953 in Japan; she died June 22, 1985. Married Gloria A. McGonigal on July 20, 1986 in Lake Tahoe, Calif.; she preceded him in death on March 3, 2011.
Bill honorably served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a proud and distinguished member of the Helper and Price American Legions where he was the bugler for many years. After returning from the service, Bill went to work as a Section Foreman for the D.& R.G.W. Railroad, eventually retiring as a General Road Master from Utah Railway. Bill dedicated over 40 years of service to the railroad. He was a member of Stella D’America Italian Lodge # 77.
Bill was an avid gardener who spent countless hours working in his yard and watching the wonderful citizens of Helper while seated on his porch. He enjoyed camping, fishing and traveling with his family. Bill was a loyal friend and neighbor who will be dearly missed by all.
Survived by his two sons, William (Nelda) Callor, Jr., Plumas Lake, Calif.., Edward Lee (Lenora) Callor, Sr., Helper; grandchildren, William Brandon (Katy) Callor, Melanie (Dr. Isaac) Bott, Amy (Brandon) Maughan, Nickolas Callor, Sara Callor, Edward Callor, Jr., Clifton Callor, Valerie (Kim) Callor, Melissa Ricketts, Paul Ricketts and Adam Ricketts; and 17 wonderful great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Erica Callor; grandson, Ronald Soren; five sisters, Angie Borrell, Vera Regis, Lena Tonel, Louise Kaywood and Mary Parsons; six brothers, George, Tony, Jack, Americo, Joseph and Chuck Callor.
Funeral Mass, Thursday, April 16, 2015, 11 a.m, St. Anthony Catholic Church, Helper. Vigil service, Wednesday evening 7 p.m. at the church in Helper. Family will receive friends at St. Anthony’s Wednesday and Thursday one hour prior to services. Committal service, Mt. View Cemetery, Helper.
