In the Jazz solo routine, Celeste Smith took first place, Reanna McQuinsten placed second and Brenna Bogdin placed in fifth. In the Contemporary routine, Kaibree Horsley took first and Gracie Steele finished in third place.
Bennett said the girls have put in a lot of effort to achieve results like this.
“They did great in Bountiful,” Bennett said. “It was a great way to help get us prepared for our Region competition in North Sanpete on Jan. 31.”
The officers are outstanding young woman who are talented and leaders in the community. Captain Celeste Smith is also Miss Carbon County and the Drill Mistress, Kaibree Horsley, is a Dance Sterling Scholar. Ashley Richens, Destanie Gardner and Aubree Robinette are the other senior officers and have all been involved in countless hours volunteering and teaching the young girls of the community, Bennett said.
Drill Team is a year long sport that begins right after tryouts in April. The team practices all summer performing in Parades and community events. They are active in football season performing at pep rallies and at halftimes and even have some girls playing Volleyball.
When winter comes around, the team finally begins their season, spending countless hours practicing anywhere they can. Competing on the weekends, they also perform for both boys and girls basketball halftimes, then staying and cheering in the student section. They do all of this while maintaining an average team GPA of over 3.6.
