After watching a teammate win a 3A Cross Country Championship last season, the Carbon High Cross Teams have seen hard work pay off and are hoping that same work ethic works this season.
Garrett Marsing, who finished his Cross Country career at CHS with a 3A title last year, graduated in the Spring.
But CHS Head Coach Telisse Allen said she has a talented boys and girls team that has the Dinos looking to be very competitive this season.
“I’m excited for this season,” Allen said noting it was her biggest team since she started coaching. “Losing Garrett was going to happen sooner or later. I just think these kids had the opportunity to run with him learned a lot and have a great legacy to follow as well as shoes to fill.”
For the boys team, Allen said the team’s two top runners, Drew Jones and Trey Richardson, return along with a talented group of runner behind them.
“The boys varsity is going to be a constant battle to stay in that top 7,” she said.
For the girls, Zarah Rossi returns to lead the team as their number one runner. Along with Rossi, Sarah Ohwiler, Emily Broadbear, Madison Black, Katie Snow, Sarah Stromness and Nikki Kulow will look to help the team towards success this season.
As for Region 12, Allen said it will be another year of tough competition. Payson and Richfield both return talented teams but, Allen said if the Carbon teams work hard and improve, they will be very competitive this season.
Carbon opened their season at the Moab Invitational on Wednesday, August 27. Results will be printed as soon as they become available.
