By Sun Advocate

ABAJO MOUNTAINS: (August 21) The following reports were provided by Conservation Officer Dennis Shumway.
                                                                        •••
Blanding 3 and 4: There aren’t many anglers fishing, which suggests that fishing is slow. Try using PowerBait and marshmallows.
                                                                        •••
Foy Reservoir: Fly anglers have had the best success, although PowerBait and marshmallows have been good backups.
                                                                        •••
Monticello Lake: Fishing has slowed down. Try using PowerBait and marshmallows.
                                                                        •••
Recapture Reservoir: The water level continues to drop. Fishing is slowing down and there are few anglers on the reservoir.
                                                                        •••
CARBON COUNTY COMMUNITY FISHING POND: (August 21) The Division offered a family fishing day during the Carbon County Fair on Aug. 9. Fishing was good using nightcrawlers and chartreuse or rainbow PowerBait. According to a few anglers, garlic flavor improved the catch rate. Most anglers floated their bait just off the bottom. A few used a bobber and fished under the surface. Both methods were successful. 750 3-inch largemouth bass were stocked last week, and the pond will be restocked before Labor Day.

                                                                        •••
DUCK FORK RESERVOIR: (August 21) Aquatics biologist Calvin Black reported slow fishing using lures or flies.
                                                                        •••
FERRON RESERVOIR: (August 21) Brandon Behling reported good fishing using worms. Aquatics Biologist Calvin Black reported good fishing for 13- to 15-inch brook trout. Conservation Officer James Thomas reported fair fishing using purple PowerBait and slow fishing using spinners.
                                                                        •••
GIGLIOTTI POND: (August 21) Fishing is good using worms, PowerBait, lures or artificial flies. 250 3-inch bass were stocked last week, and the pond will be restocked with 8- to 10-inch rainbow trout before Labor Day.
                                                                        •••
GRASSY LAKE: (August 21) Most anglers report good fishing, but it has been sporadic at times. Andy Urbanik reported fast fishing during the weekend of August 9 and 10 using a variety of PowerBait colors. He talked to another angler, who reported poor fishing using spinners.
                                                                        •••
HUNTINGTON NORTH RESERVOIR: (August 21) Anglers reported slow, but improving, fishing for wipers. For wipers up to 15 inches, Calvin Black recommends fishing from the shore or trolling using Rapalas. Evening is the best time to fish.
                                                                        •••
HUNTINGTON RESERVOIR: (August 21) Fishing is slow, but you can improve your catch rate by fishing from a boat or watercraft.
                                                                        •••
JOES VALLEY RESERVOIR: (August 21) Fishing is fair for tiger muskies, but slow for trout. More and more anglers report catching muskies over 40 inches. Calvin Black recommends fishing using Rapalas on the rocky east side.
                                                                        •••
LA SAL MOUNTAINS: (August 21) The following reports were provided by conservation officer TJ Robertson.
                                                                        •••
Dark Canyon Lake: Fishing has ranged from slow to fair. Try using worms and salmon eggs. PowerBait has not been effective.
                                                                        •••
Dons Lake: Fishing has been fair with nightcrawlers, salmon eggs, Kastmasters or Jakes lures. There is a lot of moss along the shoreline, which is making it challenging to cast and retrieve in some places.
                                                                        •••
Kens Lake: Fishing has slowed for trout, but has picked up for bass. You can catch bass using small tube jigs or spinners near the inlet or on the northeast side.
                                                                        •••
Medicine Lake: Fishing is fair to good using spinners or baits. There haven’t been many anglers fishing the lake.
                                                                        •••
Oowah: Fishing is fair using salmon eggs, worms or small spinners. PowerBait has not been effective.
                                                                        •••

                                                                        •••
MILLER FLAT RESERVOIR: (August 21) Kathy Jo Martinez reported good fishing with a variety of baits that included nightcrawlers, lemon twist PowerBait or artificial flies. The dragon fly pattern worked best. James Thomas recommends dark green PowerBait.

                                                                        •••
SOUP BOWL: (August 21) Fishing has been good with baits – like PowerBait, nightcrawlers or artificial flies – in patterns that imitate insects found on or around the waterbody.
                                                                        •••
