After years of Carbon High struggling to compete at a high level and win, leaving the past behind and setting out to create a brighter future for the football program is a key part of new Head Coach Jan Jorgensen’s outlook.
“Everyone is working hard and the kids have made a lot of progress,” said Jorgensen. “However, we’ve still got a long ways to go.”
Jorgensen and the Dinos will take that first step towards creating a new future as they prepare for the annual Blue-White game scrimmage on Friday at 7 p.m. at the Carbon High Football Field.
It will be an opportunity for the offense to showcase their read-option offense that Jorgensen is hoping will gain plenty of yards on the ground.
But their mark may be made on defense, which Jorgensen is hoping will be an “effort-based defense” that everyone does their part and works together as one.
It will be an opportunity to get out under the lights and work out some kinks in anticipation of the season opener on Friday, Aug. 22 when the Dinos host Grand High.
“There’s a lot of unknowns until our first game,” said Jorgensen. “With the Blue-White scrimmage, we want players to step up and see who takes an opportunity and runs with it. Overall, we just want to get that experience of getting out there and playing together as a team.”
