BENCHES POND: (July 22) Fishing is good in the early morning and late evening with using traditional baits. The pond was most recently stocked on July 3 with 500 ten-inch rainbow trout.

BOULGER RESERVOIR: (July 22) Early morning anglers report good fishing with worms and PowerBait. The last stocking occurred just before the July 4 holiday with 500 ten-inch rainbow trout.

CARBON COUNTY COMMUNITY FISHING POND: (July 25) The pond was stocked twice in the past month with 1,000 10-inch rainbow trout. JD Abbott reported good fishing with worms or gold spinners.

CLEVELAND RESERVOIR: (July 25) On July 19, Tom Ogden fly-fished from a tube. In 6.5 hours, he caught 20 rainbow trout. Six ranged from 14-16 inches. The rest averaged 10 inches. Tom used fast-sinking line and patterns in sizes 4-8 that included a beadhead soft-hackle fly, hot-head copper tan, and beadhead crystal bugger. Last week, boaters experienced better success than bank anglers, although the catch rate was slow for everyone. On June 30, the reservoir was stocked with 2,500 10-inch rainbow trout.

DUCK FORK RESERVOIR: (July 25) On July 21, Tom Ogden fly-fished from a tube. In seven hours, he caught 21 trout, including a fairly even mix of tigers and cutthroats. The fish ranged from 11-18 inches, with most in the 14- to 16-inch class. Tom observed a midge and damsel fly hatch while he was on the water. The best patterns proved to be a beadhead olive leech in size 10 and a beadhead soft-hackle fly in size 8.

ELECTRIC LAKE: (July 25) On July 21, Conservation Officer JD Abbott reported fair fishing from shore with dead minnows. On July 19, Dave Cunningham and two other anglers fished four hours from a boat. Dave reported poor success while trolling and fair success while still fishing and using PowerBait with glitter. The group caught a total of five trout and had four other hits. The cutthroats measured 14-16 inches.

FERRON RESERVOIR: (July 22) The reservoir was stocked during the week. Prior to stocking, fishing was sporadic.

GIGLIOTTI POND: (July 25) The pond was restocked on July 15 with 750 10-inch rainbow trout. Anglers report good fishing. Worms and PowerBait (rainbow and chartreuse with glitter) have been effective.

HUNTINGTON NORTH RESERVOIR: (July 25) On July 18, Dan Keller reported good fishing for wipers using Rapala Glass Shad Raps. Dan trolled along the buoy line at about 1.5 mph. Trout anglers have reported slow fishing from boats and the shore.

JOES VALLEY RESERVOIR: (July 22) On July 13, Stephine Matkin fished from a boat with two other anglers. In six hours, one 33-inch tiger muskie was hooked with a Rapala. Stephine said a number of fish followed the lure to the boat, but wouldn’t strike. In general, fishing has been slow for trout, but is improving for tiger muskies.

LOWER GREEN RIVER: (July 22) Walt Maldonado reports good fishing for catfish using shrimp, chicken livers or nightcrawlers. The water level is low, leaving a lot of exposed bank for easy fishing access. Mornings and evenings are the best times to fish. Walt specifically recommended fishing near the pump house near town. He suggests using an egg weight on the line to prevent a fish from feeling any resistance when it picks up the bait.

MILLER FLAT RESERVOIR: (July 25) Conservation Officer JD Abbott reported good fishing throughout the past week. Kathy Jo Martinez recommends fishing with worms along the dam.

MILLSITE RESERVOIR & STATE PARK: (July 22) On July 12, Tom Ogden fly fished from a kick boat for five hours and caught three cutthroats and two rainbows. All fish ranged from 14-16 inches. Tom used a fast sinking line and a size 8 bead head green meanie pattern, size 4 bead head olive leech, and a size 6 bead head crystal bugger. Tom had only five other hits and all occurred before 11 a.m. Tom did not see any other boaters or shoreline anglers catch fish.

PETES HOLE: (July 25) On July 15, this fishery was stocked with 600 10-inch rainbow trout. Fishing has been good, especially from a tube or other watercraft. Worms and PowerBait are recommended.

POTTERS PONDS: (July 25) On July 21, Conservation Officer JD Abbott reported excellent fishing with worms and PowerBait. The last stocking took place on July 16, when each pond received 1,000 10-inch rainbow trout.

RIGHT FORK OF HUNTINGTON CREEK: (July 25) Fishing ranges from fair to good for anglers above South Hughes Canyon in the fly-only zone.

SCOFIELD RESERVOIR: (July 22) On July 16, Rick Berg reported excellent fly fishing for rainbows and cutthroats in upper Fish Creek using a San Juan worm. During the past few weeks, conservation officers and anglers have reported better fishing success from boats. Most boaters have been trolling with pop gear and chubs or worms. Others have reported good luck trolling with spinners. Bank fishing has been fair to slow with most of the fish falling below the slot limit. The most popular baits are worms and PowerBait. Rainbow and lemon twist have been good colors. Chub meat has generally been the most effective bait for cutthroats and tiger trout.

WILLOW LAKE: (July 22) The lake was stocked this week. On July 13, Brandon Behling and his wife fished from shore. The lake is extremely mossy, preventing the effective use of lures. Brandon recommends fishing from a boat in deep water using nightcrawlers.

WRIGLEY SPRINGS RESERVOIR: (July 22) The pond was stocked this week. Last weekend, Brandon Behling and his wife fished with spoons. One was red/gold. The other imitated a rainbow trout. They caught one 14-inch and one 16-inch rainbow trout.
