Jan Jorgensen has been named the new head football coach at Carbon High School.
Jorgensen was a standout player from 2000-2003 for the team and was all state in football for two years.
Jorgensen also played as the center on the basketball team as well on the baseball team, which produced a state champion during that time.
He went on to play college football at Brigham Young University, where he was one of the key players on the squad.
“We think he is the right guy for the job,” said Carbon School District Superintendent Steve Carlsen, a former Cougar football player himself, on Friday afternoon. “What we need is someone who can bring more kids out for the football program and we believe Jan is that person.”
Jorgensen will also teach social studies at the school. He will be the first coach of the team in a long time that is also teaching at the school.
He will assume his football duties this summer.
