With many new faces on the squad this season, the Carbon High baseball team will be looking to find their identity before heading into Region 12 play in April.
Carbon traveled to St. George to participate in the Pizza Hut Classic where they played four games against tough competition.
The Dinos went 1-3, picking up a 13-3 win over Tooele but falling to Stansbury (5-2), Dixie (17-5) and a close loss to Cedar (3-2).
CHS Head Coach Bret Bennett said the results were not the big focus for the team at the tournament.
“We saw some good things and some bad things,” said Bennett. Errors late in the game against Cedar caused them to lose a 2-1 lead before falling in eight innings.
The Dinos will return to St. George for another round of games in the Desert Hills Invitational on Friday, March 14 and Saturday, March 15. They will play Layton and Maple Mountain on Friday. Carbon High’s record from those games will then determine their two opponents to play on Saturday.
