Girls lose close game by one; Boys second half comeback stifled by hot shooting Wildcat offense
New Region 12 basketball foe Richfield proved to be a formidable opponent for both the Carbon High boys and girls teams on Thursday and Friday.
The Lady Dinos fell to Richfield 41-40 on Thursday evening on the road in a game where Carbon girls got their offense going in the second half but were unable to get the win.
Katie Basinger led Carbon with 10 points in the loss.
The Lady Dinos will host Juab on Tuesday, Jan. 21 and Emery High on Jan. 24. Both games are scheduled to start at 7 p.m. at the CHS Gym.
For the Carbon High boys, a double digit deficit became too much to overcome in a 57-39 loss on Friday night at home.
Cole Fossat led the Dinos with 11 points as the Dinos made it a two possession game in the third quarter. Richfield’s hot shooting offense took off in the second half preventing the Dinos from completing the comeback.
The Carbon boys will travel to Juab on Wednesday, Jan. 22 before having a week off from play.
