With a 2-0 set lead and a chance to finish a sweep against Juab on Tuesday night, the third set win ultimately slipped out of the Lady Dinos’ grasp.
Instead of letting Juab crawl closer back into the game, the Lady Dinos grabbed control of the game winning the fourth set and picking up the victory (25-17, 26-24, 25-27, 25-21) at home.
It was a welcome sight for the Lady Dinos after struggling in recent weeks to put away opponents when they had an opportunity.
“We’ve had a few streaks of bad play, but the girls are learning not to back down,” said CHS head coach Danielle Jensen. “The girls battled to get the win instead of shutting down and letting Juab back in it.”
Front line hitters Annika Hansen and Shelby Cornforth combined for 19 kills in the win.
While the season is just three weeks away from ending, the Lady Dinos (6-9 overall, 2-1 Region 12) are looking to continue their string of good play when they travel to Richfield on Thursday, Oct. 3.
“We still have a lot we can improve on” said junior Katee Martinez, who led team with 37 digs. “We don’t want to have any letdowns. Each game is helping us get better as a team.”
