Dorothy Hawkins

PRICE – Our loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Dorothy Jean Gardner Hawkins passed away peacefully May 2, 2013 in Price at the age of 90.
She was born in Ayer, Mass., on Feb. 27, 1923 to William and Dorcas Scruton Gardner.
Married the love of her life, James Lester Hawkins, Oct. 23, 1943 in Ayer, Mass. He preceded her in death on March 25, 1977.
Dorothy was a longtime resident of Massachusetts where she worked at the Groton School for Boys for over 40 years. During this time she helped shape the lives of many young men while becoming a loyal friend and devoted housekeeper to the Polk family until her 80th birthday. Dorothy had a special place in her heart for everyone and she was affectionately known to many as “Grammie” or “G.G.”. She loved caring for others and during the holidays she went to great lengths to make everything perfect. Dorothy had an extensive collection of dolls, clowns and Garfield’s that will be cherished for generations.
She leaves behind her daughter, Bette (Jerry) Faulconer, grandchildren, Jason Faulconer, Alyson (Patrick) Kocks, all of Price; beloved great-grandchildren, Jayden, Zoey, Kenyon and McGuire; sister, Leah (Albert) Tooker, Ayer, MA; and sisters-in-law, Mary Gardner, Florida, Emma Gardner, Massachusetts.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, infant son, Russell; and brothers, Vernon, Paul, Allyn and Robert Gardner.
Private family services were held under the direction of Mitchell Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Ayer, Massachusetts at a later date. Family and friends are welcome to share memories of Dorothy at www.mitchellfuneralhome.net.
