Bob Strong

HELPER – Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and proud veteran of World War II, passed away peacefully Dec. 25, 2010 after celebrating his 84th birthday on Christmas Eve.
He was born in Price on Dec. 24, 1926 to Theodore Samuel and Ian Cuthertson Strong.
At age 16 he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He took great pride in his country and honorably served during World War II. He was awarded numerous medals, including the purple heart and he truly loved the American Flag and what it stood for. Bob was a dedicated and faithful member of Price American Legion Post # 3. He was always willing to participate in any of the veteran programs and his devotion to his country was the backbone that kept him going.
Bob was a member of Carbon Lodge # 16 Free and Accepted Masons of Utah. He was also a member of Price Elk’s Lodge # 1550.
In 1983, Bob retired from Utah Power and Light and then he went to Delta where he finished his career with I.P.P. He loved to dance, bowl and spend time with his family. He enjoyed visiting friends, traveling and attending his naval reunions.
Bob’s memory will keep marching on and his smile and twinkle in his eye will be a constant reminder of how much he cared for his country, family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Rose Marie Romano Strong of 63 years; sons, Corky (Jeanette) Strong, Scott (Doreen) Strong, both of Price; five grandchildren, Wendy, Steven (Heather), Scott, Lacey and Kayla; and three great-grandchildren, Delaney, Sarah and Aidan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and four sisters.
Graveside service, Thursday, Dec. 30, 2010, 1:00 p.m., Mt. View Cemetery in Helper. Family will be at Mitchell Funeral Home Thursday from 11:30-12:30. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Price American Legion Post # 3, P.O. Box 447, Price, Utah 84501.
