The storms that came through Carbon County on Sunday night added a little of almost everything to the area. First came the threatening lightning, then torential rains in many places around the county. Price reportedly had .85 of an inch of rain between Sunday evening and Monday morning when things began to clear up. Some unofficial measurements in other places placed rainfall at over 1.5 inches in a few hours as storms would batter an area with down pours and then let up for an hour only to return again. The result was some minor flooding around street corners and in a few basements. On Monday morning the Price River was swollen and left its banks in a few places flooding out willows and pastures. Near the diversion dam on Farnum Road the water gathered in a big whirlpool with garbage and debris swirling around. But by Tuesday morning the scene had settled down (inset photo) considerably. The rain proved to be the biggest general precipitation since early last spring.
