The Utah Department of Transportation will close U.S. Highway 6 two miles west of the Tucker rest area at milepost 200. The Aug. 5 bridge closer will take place from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. According to the department, the closure is being done to remove several feet of asphalt from the bridge.
Motorists are encouraged to use the following detour routes during this closure:
• Semi-trucks and travelers on west bound Interstate 70 should stay on I-70 and take U.S. Highway 50 north at Salina to Scipio to access north bound Interstate 15.
• Semi-trucks and travelers south bound on I-15 should stay on I-15 and take U.S. 50 south at Scipio and connect with I-70.
• Travelers on U.S. 6 out of Price should take U.S. 191 east to Duchesne and then U.S. 40 west to Heber.
• Motorists traveling south on U.S. 6 and needing to go to Price should to U.S. 89 south at Thistle.
UDOT encourages motorists to watch electronic messages boards during the closure. Barriers and Utah Highway Patrol will be in place to direct motorists to detour routes along U.S. 6. Schedules are subject to change due to inclement weather, equipment problems or emergency.
