Juanita Richard will serve as the grand marshal of the 2008 International Days Parade.
Richard was selected for the honor by the Price City International Days Committee members due to her exceptional community involvement.
The grand marshal was born and raised in Price.
During her time in the Carbon County area, she has always been eager to volunteer within the community.
Richard graduated from Carbon High and attended the College of Eastern Utah.
After CEU commencement, she moved to Salt Lake City and graduated from the University of Utah.
“I have worked for the Carbon Metro Drug Task Force since 1990 and have been happily married to my husband, Tom Richard, for nearly 35 years,” said the grand marshal.
Along with being employed full-time, Richard does more than her share of volunteer work in Price.
Her love of animals compels her to help the Carbon County Humane Society find temporary and permanent homes for abandon pets.
Richard is also on the American cancer board and helps with the local women’s shelter.
“We are always looking for new volunteers, but it seems to be harder and harder to find individuals who are willing to take on some of these opportunities. Most of us who volunteer are getting older so it is essential to our community for the younger generation to start coming out and lending a hand,” said the grand marshal.
Richard was honored to find out that she was chosen to stand as the grand marshal in the International Days parade and has no plans on stopping her community outreach efforts.
