June 19 through 21 Castle Valley Barracuda Swim Team competed in the Utah Summer Games in Cedar City.
Alisann Heath swam in the 9 and 10-year-old age group winning a third place medal in the 50 meter butterfly, second place medal in the 200 meter freestyle. She also placed fifth in the 100 meter backstroke, sixth in the 100 meter freestyle, seventh in the 50 meter freestyle and 50 meter backstroke. Alisann competed very well for her first year at the summer games.
Brittany Willson swam in the 11 and 12-year-old age group. She picked up medal in third place in both the 200 meter breaststroke and 1500 meter freestyle. Brittany never swam these events before and did a great job. She also placed fourth in the 400 meter freestyle and fifth in the 50 meter freestyle.
Joset Wells also swam in the 11 and 12-year-old age group in the 50 meter butterfly, 200 meter freestyle and 100 meter breaststroke. Joset improved all of her times in these events.
Christy Wells placed fifth in the 50 meter butterfly, sixth in the 200 meter freestyle, seventh the 100 meter breaststroke and a third place medal in the 400 meter freestyle.
Krissia Beatty competed in the 15 and 16-year-old age group. Krissia has not been swimming very much since high school swimming in February. She was able to get back in shape in the last three weeks to take home four gold medals in four events and set two new records. She swam in the 100 meter freestyle, 50 meter freestyle, 50 meter backstroke and 100 meter backstroke.
Dallen Garvin swam in eight events in which he placed fourth and fifth in all but one where he placed third and got a medal in the 100 meter butterfly. Dallen also went and competed in the throwing events in track and field on Friday where he collected three more medals in the discus, javelin and hammer throw.
Kamra Davis not only coached the swim team, but also competed in the master swim portion each night. She swam in eight races and won eight gold medals and set two new records, breaking three records that she set at the Summer Games 2007.
The next swim meet will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 26 at the Desert Wave Pool.
