Carbon County residents got busy showing their support for the fight against cancer, raising more than $64,000 to date. Online donations accepted through August. Below are the totals raised by the top six teams in this year’s event.
- A Salute to Joe – $15,587
- Board of Realtors – $7,454
- Castleview Hospital – $5,838
- St. Anthony’s Church – $3,538
- Southeastern Utah Health Dept. – $3,178
- Pinnacle High School – $2,415
The total raised by all 21 teams is $43,652.83 and Vickie Marrelli raised $5,925, the most for an individual.
• Emerald City/Salute to Joe won the award for best camp, most team money raised and individual with most money raised.
• Teams were down from 32 to 21, however, this year’s relay raised nearly the same amount of money as last year.
• Four teams were inadvertently left out of the pre-event insert in the newspaper, they are: A Salute to Joe (family team), Carbon Emery Board of Realtors, Judi Bishop’s honor to Bonnie Robertson and the McGinnis family and friends joined Questar/Bucyrus
• Next year’s theme will be “Back to the Future.”
• It’s never to early to sign up for next year. Any future team registering before Aug. 31 will be able to register for $50 instead of $100.
