The Mont Harmon girls basketball team showed that they will be a force to be reckoned with in the coming years, winning the varsity and junior varsity Southeastern Athletic Association tournaments.
The varsity girls defeated Helper 42-34 in the championship game played at Canyonview.
Miranda Averett was the teams leading scorer with 15 and Alexis Gagon contributed in a big way with 10.
“They all stepped up at different times, they were all stars at some point,” said coach Danielle Jensen.
In the JV touney the girls shocked everyone by downing San Rafael 36-35.
Diana Olsen was the leading scorer for the gals, hitting for 12.
“She had two great games,” said Jensen.
“These JV girls really came out of nowhere, said Olsen. “We had our struggles all year but when the tournament came around they all showed up wanting to win.”
And win they did.
