College presents Curious Savage

By Sun Advocate

The theatre department at the College of Eastern Utah is proud to announce its final production of the 2007-2008 Season, “The Curious Savage” by John Patrick, opening Thursday, Mar. 6 and continuing through Tuesday, Mar. 11, at the Geary Theatre, 451 East 400 North, Price. The theatre is dark on Sunday.
The play is directed by Dr. Corey Ewan.
In the play, Mrs. Savage has been left 10 million dollars by her husband and wants to make the best use of it, in spite of the efforts of her grown-up stepchildren to get their hands on it. Knowing that the widow’s wealth is now in negotiable securities, and seeing they cannot get hold of it, they commit her to a “sanatarium” hoping to “bring her to her senses”. But Mrs. Savage is determined to establish a fund to help others realize their hopes and dreams. In the sanatarium she meets various social misfits, men and women who just cannot adjust themselves to life, people who need the help Mrs. Savage can provide. In getting to know them, she realizes that she will find happiness with them, and plans to spend the rest of her life as one of them. How will it turn out? Who will get the money? The story makes for a great night at the theatre.
Curtain time for the play is at 7:30 p.m. on play dates. In consideration of others, no one under the age of six will be admitted into the production.
