Alissa Morley works hard for position against the powereful CSI Eagles. |
There is a reason the Lady Eagles of College of Southern Idaho is 23-1 on the year.
There team is big, deep and talented and it showed as they rolled right over CEU in a weekend double feature. Friday night CEU went down 63-85 to CSI and Saturday the loss was even greater, 67-100.
For the CEU Eagles it was cold shooting that kept them from staying in either game.
On Friday night they shot 31 percent while CSI hit 47percent. On Saturday the shots from CEU seemed to do nothing but clunk off the rim as they hit only 25 percent and CSI made 50 percent.
Rebounding was also a key to the loss for the CEU women.
CSI was able to pull down more defensive rebounds than CEU’s total rebounding for both games.
Highlights for the weekend were few and far between.
Erin Richardson was the only CEU player to hit for double figures in the Friday night affair with 16. Maquette Potts managed to lead the rebounding effort with five.
On Saturday afternoon a large contingent of family supporting CEU’S Alissa Morley was there to root the team on. It didn’t help and CSI gathered steam to finish the sweep. Veronica Siqueiros finished off with 11 points for CEU Kasey Day pulled in five rebounds. Potts had five steals.
Morley gave her fans something to cheer about with a bucket and a pair of free throws and four rebounds.
This weekend will be the last home stand for the Eagles as they take on Northern Idaho for a pair.
Game time will be Friday night at 5:30 p.m. and on Saturday it will be at 1p.m. Both games will precede the men’s games.
