Being a student athlete is about first being a student and then pursuing athletic excellence.
Carbon High is well represented by students who excel in both aspects of this endeavor.
The following is the list of those students who made the Region 8 All Academic squad.
The students needed to have at least a 3.75 GPA to qualify for the honor given at the end of their season.
The Carbon High dive team was represented by Kent Olsen, Brett Wells and Travis Hobbs.
The girls basketball squad had Megan Garvin, Kayla Namanny and Erika Potts.
The wrestling All Academic Region 8 team included Carbon’s Jarid Clark, Matthew Salas, Michael Harmond and Brandon Branch.
And last, but not least the Carbon swim team boasted Elizabeth Kobe and Bobbie Campbell. Meeting an even higher academic standard to make All-State Academic was Kent Olsen, Elizabeth Kobe, Bobbie Campbell and Megan Garvin. Garvin also garnered another accolade as the state finalist for the Wendy’s Heisman Award.
