Roger Lee Anderson
HUNTINGTON – Roger Lee Anderson, age 48, passed away unexpectedly Feb. 7, 2008 at his home from pneumonia.
He was born June 22, 1959 in Price to Soren Arthur and Karen Hope Young Anderson. On July 18, 1981, he married Michelle Marie Greenan in Huntington and their marriage was sealed in the Manti LDS Temple on Dec. 6, 1998.
Roger was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
He was a lifelong resident of Emery County, where he was employed at Mac’s Mining and Machinery.
His job was a very important part of his life, especially those he worked with.
His devotion to his work was only exceeded by his love for his family.
Roger enjoyed farming, woodworking, four-wheelers and riding horses.
He will be sorely missed by his family and many longtime friends.
Survived by his wife, Michelle Anderson, Huntington; three daughters and one son, Melissa (Carl) Shaw, Aurora; Roger “Bro” Anderson and Tawny Conder, Huntington; Kortnie (Trent) Anderson, Roosevelt; Hannah (Cody) Sterling, Salt Lake City; sister and brother, Brenda Tucker, Gale (Mavoreen) Anderson, both of Huntington; two granddaughters, JayLee and Bryar. Roger was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral service Tuesday, Feb. 12, 11 a.m., Huntington 1st LDS Ward. Family will be at the church Tuesday one hour prior to service. Interment, Huntington City Cemetery.
James Noyes
PRICE – Jim Noyes, age 61, died Feb. 11, 2008 in Price.
He was born Sept. 13, 1946 in Price to James R. Noyes and Leah Virginia Henrie. He married Judy K. Bowers on Nov. 19, 1995 in Las Vegas, Nev.
From an early age, Jim worked as a ranch hand on Antelope Island and the Wilcox Ranch.
He joined the Marines at age 17, too young to even sign himself in. He was loyal to his country as member of the U.S. Marine Corps.
He served in Vietnam as the tank commander of the 1st Tank Battalion as a corporal, where he was highly decorated with a Gold Star for his outstanding performance of duty. He was also awarded the Meritorious Mast and three purple hearts.
During his life, Jim worked in and managed many coal mines, including Deer Creek, Soldier Creek, and was superintendent at Consol.
He enjoyed the outdoors, where he had many hobbies, including hunting and fishing. He was an avid trophy hunter and hunted all over the world. He rode bulls until he was 50.
He loved Budweiser and he always did it his way.
He is survived by his wife, Judy Noyes; seven children, Jim (Kim) Noyes of Price; Patty (Phil) Pappas of Price; Chelle (Gary) Hinkins of Price; Jenny (Cory) Mortensen of Rock Springs, Wyo.; Kirk (Dawn) Hanna, of Surprise, Ariz.; Trudy Madrigal of Price; and Patrick Strey of Price; 12 grandchildren; and three sisters, Doreen (Willie) Lopan of Price; Lynette Noyes of Federalway, Wash.; and Judy (Roger) Graham of Rice, Minn. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be Thursday, Feb.14, at 11 a.m. at Fausett Mortuary, 680 E. 100 South, Price. A viewing will be Wednesday, Feb. 13, from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 10 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the service at the mortuary. Interment will be in the Wellington City Cemetery.
Jimmy, you are our husband, our dad, brother, mentor, hero and dear friend. We will all miss you.
Vernon Barry Curtis
SPANISH FORK – Vernon Barry Curtis, age 66, died Feb.5, 2008 in Spanish Fork.
He was born to Doyle and Inez Curtis on Sept. 16, 1941 in Salt Lake City. He was raised there and in Kanab, where he graduated high school in 1960. At 15, he met Mareah Larsen on a New Year’s Eve blind date. Five years later on June 9, 1961, he married her. The union was solemnized a year later in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple.
The couple were married 43 years and raised five children together, primarily on their family farm in Castle Dale.
Vern earned a bachelor’s degree in math and education from the University of Utah, a master’s degree in recreational education from Brigham Young University and a doctoral degree in education from California Western University.
An educator for more than four decades, he taught math and computer classes in schools across Utah, in Snowflake, Ariz., and in Las Vegas, Nev. He also traveled extensively, living and teaching for years in Medellin, Colombia; Kwajalein, Marshall Islands; Cairo, Egypt; and Beijing, China. Most recently, he taught math at Mont Harmon Junior High School in Price.
He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
He is survived by his former wife, Mareah Curtis of Castle Dale; wife, Ling Curtis of Spanish Fork; sons, Chris (Marla), Dale (Wendy) and John (Denise), all of Phoenix, Ariz.; daughters, Trina (Gene) Davis and Lynnette of Las Vegas, Nev.; baby son, Bowan, of Spanish Fork; brothers, Eugene and Norman (Bonnie); sisters, Genean (Lee) Hickenlooper and Carla (David) Lingwall; and 13 grandchildren. At the time of his death, he was an expectant great-grandfather.
Funeral services were Saturday, Feb. 9, at Fausett Mortuary in Castle Dale, with a viewing one hour prior to the services. Interment was in the Castle Dale City Cemetery.
Charles Ray Forston
EAST CARBON – Charles Ray Forston, age 66 of East Carbon, died Jan. 18, 2008 at his home.
A graveside service and interment were Monday, Feb. 11, at the Carbonville City Cemetery. Services were in the care of Fausett Mortuary.
