Beverly Lander
PRICE – Beverly Spensko Lander, age 60, passed away Sunday, Jan. 27, 2008, at her home due to heart failure.
She was born Jan. 31, 1947 in Wattis to John and Mozell Collier McIntosh. Beverly married Ron Spensko and they raised their family in Spring Glen, later divorcing.
She was a longtime resident of Helper.
In 1992, Beverly married her second husband, Vopel Lander, and they made their home in Price.
After his untimely death, she continued to live in Price, where she could be closer to her sister and brother-in-law. They were always there for her and she loved them for all they did. There will never be enough thank yous.
She will be missed dearly, but we find comfort in knowing she is at peace.
Survived by her two sons, Shane (Suzie) Spensko and Chance (Becky) Spensko; grandchildren, Lindsey, Steven, Alison, Mitchell (Tressa), Anja and Keith; and a great-grandchild to be born in August; sister, Ronnie (Raymond) Coleman; and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents; husband, Vopel Lander; sister, Janice World; and grandson, Alex Wade Spensko.

Maria Roybal
COLUMBIA/SALT LAKE – Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and dear friend, Maria Valencia Roybal, age 91, passed away on Jan. 30, 2008 from complications of Alzheimer’s disease.
She was born Oct. 26, 1916 to Samuel and Carlotta Gomez Valencia in El Rancho, N.M. On June 23, 1941, she married Frank Roybal Sr. in Santa Cruz, N.M.
In 1946, Frank and Maria moved to Columbia and, for the last seven years, she resided at Garden Terrace Alzheimer’s Facility.
Maria was preceded in death by her husband, who passed away on June 23, 1986; her parents; infant daughter, Maria; brother, Manuel Valencia; sisters, Esther J. Martinez and Ricarda Valencia; grandsons, Tony Aguayo and Stephen Bourque. Maria is survived by her children, Frank (Louise) Roybal Jr, of Columbia; Victoria (JR) Aguayo, Albert (Judy) Roybal both of Salt Lake City; Alberta (Louis) Bourque of Scarborough, Maine, and Sandy; her only remaining sister, Teresa Quintana of El Rancho, N.M.; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Garden Terrace for their compassionate care of Maria.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, Feb. 5, 10 a.m., Good Shepherd Catholic Church. Vigil service Monday evening, 7 p.m., at the church in East Carbon. Family will receive friends at the church Monday and Tuesday one hour prior to services. Committal service, Price City Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home of Price.
John Leonard ‘Bud’ McKendrick
PRICE/OREM – John Leonard McKendrick, age 86, passed away peacefully with his family at his side on Feb. 1, 2008.
He was born Oct. 24, 1921 in Price, a son of John Henry and Mary Gorley McKendrick.
John grew up in Carbonville and earned his associate’s degree from College of Eastern Utah.
He married Elzar Wycherley July 1950 and later adopted her son, Leon. Together, John and Elzar adopted five more children and cared for several foster children as well.
John served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corp during World War II and took great pride in his time spent in England as a bomber mechanic.
He spent his life working at the Horse Canyon coal mine and retired at the age of 59. He and Elzar moved to Orem after his retirement.
He enjoyed fishing early in his life.
John was a gifted fix it man and enjoyed tinkering and repairing anything with an engine. He was especially good at lawn mower repairs. He enjoyed doing this for family and friends.
Survivors include his five children, Leon of Draper; Patrick of San Antonio, Texas; Paul Anderson of Las Vegas, Nev.; Cathy Brown of Las Vegas, Nev.; and Larry of West Jordan,. He is also survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews, three of whom were like his own children; Sam Wycherley, Ed Wycherley and Vicky Booth. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Elzar; and his son, John E. McKendrick.
Graveside services will be Wednesday, Feb. 6, at 3 p.m. in the Spanish Fork City Cemetery. A viewing will be from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. at Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary, 495 S. State Street, Orem. Military rites will be performed by Hill Air Force Base.
Mildred Marie Guy Hidey
CASTLE DALE -Mildred Marie Guy Hidey, 81, passed away on Jan. 31, 2008 in Price.
Mildred was born on April 29, 1926 to Pearl Dewitt and Fanny Delightful Guy in Troutville, Va. She married Moyne Francis Hidey Sr. on April 10, 1945, in Russell, Ky.
Mildred was a very special wife, mother, grandma, great-grandma and great-great-grandma. She was a special friend and was loved by all who knew her.
Mildred was a very spiritual person who loved her Lord and Savior. She was a wonderful cook and loved her family.
She was the rock of our family and we will miss her dearly. ‘Bye, Mom. We will miss you. Love ya.
She is survived by her husband; two children, Brenda Joyce (Donald) Cologie of Ferron and Moyne Francis (Anna Marie) Hidey Jr. of Price; two siblings, Evelyn Haja of Roanoke, Va., and Roy Guy of Leesville, Ohio; five grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren. Mildred was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers: Clyde Guy, Alvin Guy and Paul Guy Sr.; a great-granddaughter; and a special sister-in-law.
Memorial services were Monday, Feb. 4, at Fausett Mortuary in Castle Dale.
MarJean Matilda Bowden Eden Clarke
ORANGEVILLE – Our loving mother, MarJean Matilda Bowden Eden Clarke, 81, passed away peacefully Feb. 1, 2008, at the home of her son, Henry Clarke.
She was born May 4, 1926 in Salt Lake City to George Clarence and Sarah Ann Rawson Bowden. She married William Joseph Eden in May 1942. They divorced in 1945. She then married Henry Gordon Clarke Sr. on March 22, 1946. Their marriage was solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple on May 21, 1966.
MarJean grew up in Garfield, learning many homemaking skills from her mother.
She was known for her cooking and crocheting talents, having made quilts for all of her children and grandchildren.
She loved camping and fishing and left us all with an appreciation for the outdoors.
She is survived by her children, Pat (Paul) Hill of Price; SueAnn (John) Naranjo of West Valley; Kathy (Van) Cook of Eureka, Calif.; Henry (Janice) Clarke Jr. of Orangeville; and Shawnee Clarke of Orangeville; three brothers, George Clarence Bowden Jr. of Magna, Marvin Bowden of Ferron and Lawry Bowden of Hurricane; 34 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Gordon Clarke Sr.; five sons, William Rodney (Billy Joe) Eden, Ronald Lee Eden, Kelly D. Clarke, Davies Clarke and Kim Clarke; three sisters, Betty (Mike) Davidson, Vayomi (George) Beagley and Marsha (David) McCleve; one brother, Richard (Edna Goudeni) Bowden; and two grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, Feb. 6, at 1 p.m. at the Price 3rd LDS Ward Chapel, 303 West 500 South. A viewing will be Tuesday, Feb. 5, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Fausett Mortuary in Price and Wednesday one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the Price City Cemetery.
Anita LeRae ‘Rae’ Fausett Wright Droz
SANDY – Anita LeRae Fausett Wright Droz, age 70, passed away Feb. 1, 2008 in Sandy.
Born June 7, 1937 in Price to Max and Sylvia Fausett.
Rae was active in cheerleading and song leading at Carbon High School and junior college.
She married Dr. J.K. Wright, who preceded her in death. She later married Robert H. Droz.
Rae worked as a nurse with her husband for over 20 years.According to her husband, Bob, she was “a hell of a good cook.”
She enjoyed her family and traveling.
She is survived by her husband, Bob; son, John Scott Wright; grandchildren, Jennifer Wright, Kathy Graham and Max Droz; sister, Jerry Saparis; and brother, Jeff Fausett. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Rhonda Wright; and Dr. J.K. Wright
Memorial services will be Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2 p.m., at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park & Mausoleum, 3401 Highland Drive, where friends may call from noon to 2 p.m. prior to services.
