Erin Richardson goes hard to the hole as the Lady Eagles rout CNCC during Saturday’s matinee game. |
It took longer than Coach Dave Paur would have liked, but this weekend the Lady Eagles finally shook off the dust and got back into rhythm and scored their first conference win of the season. They defeated Colorado Northwestern 86-50 in an afternoon affair at the BDAC this weekend.
The Spartans took the floor ready to play and they ran the ball with an intensity that matched anything that CEU could throw at them. By the end of the half it was 33-34, Eagles.
CEU was like the cat that had caught a mouse and after the half, decided enough was enough. They went in for the kill. The Spartans were no match for the Eagles in the second period of play and CEU outscored them 52-17 to take control of the game.
Kendra Dalebout was 4-9 from the three point line and led the scorers with 20 points. Brandi King and Erin Richardson each contributed 13. Dalebout and Kasey Day pulled in 15 rebounds apiece to almost match the 33 total rebounds from CNCC as a team.
This is CEU womens first conference win of the season. Coach Paur was happy that his team was getting back on track. “We will never take 31 days off again. It seemed to really hurt us. This was a good game to get back on our feet with,” he said. He was not in attendance at the game because he was down at SUU being inducted into their Coaches Hall of Fame.
CEU will be on the road to take on CNCC for two games this weekend.
