Adult drivers education class – Carbon School District will offer an adult drivers education class starting Jan. 28. The class will include 10 three-hour sessions. Participants must obtain learners permits from the drivers license division and register at Carbon High’s main office prior to Jan. 28. Learner’s permit and class registration fees are required.
Food handlers classes – Two-hour sessions are scheduled Feb. 12 and March 4 at 9 a.m., 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. at Southeastern Utah Health District in Price. Classes will be taught Feb. 21 and March 27 at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. at the public health department in Castle Dale. Test fees are required. For information, contact Claron Bjork at 637-3671.
Life march – against abortion is scheduled Jan. 19. Participants will meet at Notre Dame at 2:30 p.m. and carpool to the Price cemetery for a program at 3 p.m., followed by the march.
Immunization clinic hours – Clinics are scheduled at Southeastern Utah Health District Monday through Thursday from 3 to 4:30 p.m. and Friday from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.
Women’s cancer screening – Women 50 years of age or older may qualify for a free breast and cervical cancer exams as well as mammograms. For information, call the public health district at 637-3671.
Head Start – The free preschool program accepts qualified children ages 3 to 5 years old. Residents may submit applications at the Price office, 745 East 200 South, or the program in Wellington, 150 West Main. For information, contact the Price office at 613-8494.
Free legal clinics – Utah Legal Services has scheduled free clinics the second and fourth Monday of the month from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the 7th District Court complex, 149 E. 100 South, Price. For information, contact the agency toll-free at 1-800-662-1563.
Carbon County Animal Shelter – AVID chip pet identification is available at the shelter. Hours are Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Carbon County RSVP – Residents who would like to lend a helping hand or need the assistance of volunteers may contact the Price RSVP program at 637-9118 or call the East Carbon office.
Carbon County Family Support and Children’s Justice Center – offers crisis care for families with children from infants to 11 years old. The crisis nursery is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Residents may use the nursery for respite, doctor and mental health appointments, court appearances, medical emergencies, family crisis, support meetings, divorce classes and to escape domestic violence.Parenting classes are scheduled Thursday at 1:30 p.m.
Child care resource and referral – For information on reserving a spot at upcoming child care provider orientation classes, local residents may contact Avis Burrows at 636-2355. Applications for startup grants are available at the agency’s office at CEU.

Recovery classes – are scheduled Monday to Friday at the Golden Rule Mission in Helper from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Classes include relapse prevention, Big Book, 12 steps, traditions, spirituality and life skills. AA is 6 p.m. daily.
Price Recovery group – meets Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the CEU computer building.
Reach to Recovery – The American Cancer Society program matches a diagnosed breast cancer patient with a trained survivor who can answer questions and address concerns.

Cancer resource center – Volunteers are needed to staff the American Cancer Society information center at Castleview Hospital.
