Catherine ‘Cathy’ Marie McFarland.
OGDEN – Catherine “Cathy” Marie McFarland, beloved daughter, sister, aunt and friend, passed away on Jan. 7, 2008 at Ogden Regional Hospital from cardiac arrest.
Cathy was born on July 9, 1954 in Dragerton to Ola and John McFarland.
Cathy was an organ and tissue donor and will bring a better life to the blind with her eyes, better hearts with her heart valves, and her tissues will help so many burn victims, etc.
Many, many thanks for the exemplary care she received at Ogden Regional, the doctors, nurses and sisters were exceptional. Many thanks to Weber County Mental Health and the doctors, nurses, counselors and friends.
Also, the family was helped so much by Meg, who was by our side throughout our sorrow, and Dirk, our dear family friend. Thanks to you both for being there in our time of need.
Cathy dearly loved all of our neighbors who were so very good to her. Thanks to all of you.
She leaves behind her mother, Ola; father, John; sisters, Linda (Joe) Cecil, Lisa (Mark) Bonner; uncle, Oscar Maxey; nieces, Brenna Cecil and Madeline Bonner; nephews, Corey Cipta and Maxwell Bonner; great-aunt, Ola Coonce; aunt, Vera Mae, and uncle, Ronnie Kinyon; aunts, June Stevenson, Eunice McFarland; and many cousins. She was preceded in death by her brother, Jess McFarland; grandparents, John and Ona Maxey; Jess and Elsie McFarland; and uncles, John Maxey Jr. and Floyd McFarland.
There was a celebration of her life on Jan. 9. Cremation under the direction of Aaron’s Mortuary & Crematory. Condolences may be extended to the family at aarons@relia.net.
Janice Elvira Lance Rowley
SPRING GLEN – Janice Elvira Lance Rowley, age 65, died on Jan. 9, 2008 of complications due to adrenal cancer.
Born in Moab to Howard Lance and Ireta Hansen, she took great pride in her parents and delighted in her five sisters and brother.
She credited growing up on the farm as having fashioned the strong work ethic with which she governed her life.
Mom’s faith in Jesus Christ was the guiding force in all she did.
She took great joy in being a mother. We always felt her love and concern for us. She knew we were capable of anything. She was our greatest advocate.
Mom adored her 17 grandchildren and they adored her. She was willing to do anything for them.
Mom and Dad both were the perfect example of how to treasure a companion. Their unique relationship was the finest example of patience and understanding.
Everyone who knew them was keenly aware of their special bond.
Mom was a master teacher who took great pride and delight in the hundreds of students she taught over the course of many years as an elementary school teacher. Her care and skill in preparing stimulating well-crafted lessons was legendary.
Mom tirelessly gave of herself in service, both formally in her ward and stake, and quietly to her friends, family and neighbors.
One of the great experiences of her life was serving a full-time LDS mission with Roger to the New Jersey-Camden mission and serving as a temple worker in the Manti LDS Temple.
We feel so inadequate to sum up a life like Mom’s in a few words.
Mom leaves a legacy of love, service and testimony of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Janice is survived by Roger, her husband of 43 years; daughter, Lisa (Brett); and sons, Roger Bryce (Tamara), Spencer (Brandy), Sterling (Paula), Lane (Deanna) and Kimball (Megan); and 17 grandchildren. Janice is also survived by her brother, Deloy (Shirley); and sisters, Merlyn, Marjean (Wilford), Helen (John) and Reta (Ron). She was preceeded in death by her parents, Howard and Ireta Lance; a sister, Shirley; and two brothers-in-law, James Christianson and Raymond Hawks.
Funeral services will be Saturday, Jan. 12, at 11 a.m. at the Helper LDS Stake Center. Family will be at Fausett’s Mortuary on Friday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturday one hour prior to services. Interment, Price City Cemetery.
Glen Nielson
PRICE – Our loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and friend, Glen W. Nielson, age 59, passed away peacefully Jan. 8, 2008 at Castleview Hospital in Price.
He was born April 15, 1948 in Price to Kermit and Mona Pierson Nielson. Married Ardith Barker in 1983 in Price.
Glen enjoyed camping, fishing and hunting.
He loved to do anything that anyone wanted done.
He spent many hours tying flies and fixing bow and arrows.
He dearly loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.
He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survived by his wife, Ardith, Price; mother, Mona Nielson, St. George; children, Lisa (Merrill) Ivie; Tina (Arnold) Rowley, both of Price; Jason (Melbia) Nielson, Glenda Nielson, both of Las Vegas, Nev.; brother, Wayne Nielson, Beaumont, Calif.; sister, Karma Mulliner, Santa Clara; grandchildren, Marcus, Amanda and Robert Rowley; Garrett Derbonne; Eric May; Nicholas Ivie, all of Price; Greg and Haley Kief, Packston, Ill. Preceded in death by his father, Kermit Nielson; brothers, LaMar and Bruce Nielson.
Memorial service Jan. 12, 5 p.m. at Mitchell’s Funeral Home. Family will be at Mitchell’s one hour prior to service.
Bobby Gene Tilton
WEST VALLEY CITY – Our beloved father, grandfather, brother and uncle, Bobby Gene Tilton, passed away peacefully at his home on Jan. 6, 2008.
Bobby was born Dec. 1, 1929 in Goldsboro, N.C., to Willie Ford and Mildred Gray Dixon Tilton. He married Pauline Joyce Rowley Nov. 2, 1951. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDSTemple.
He served on the Price City Police Department for 26 years and retired as a sergeant.
He served honorably in the United Sates Marine Corps. Bobby was also a Golden Glove boxer in the Marine Corps.
He was a proud member of the Masonic Order.
He loved family outings and family get togethers at his home. His favorite place to shop was the D.I. and his favorite holiday was Thanksgiving.
He loved and adored his children, grandchildren and his cherished dogs.
Bobby touched the lives of all those he met and he will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his children, Terry Tilton, Toni (Dave) Abbott, James (Laura) Tilton, Shauna (Robert) Carder; his sister, Lucille (B) Jones; and brother, Adrian Tilton; 13 grandchildren and one great-grandson. Preceded in death by his wife, and his parents.
The family expresses gratitude to Dr. Steven Aslami and Shelly, Vanessa, Robby and Marie from Woodland Care Center. We would also like to express our deepest appreciation and love for all the neighbors and friends of Bobby and Pauline and a special thanks to Jordan North 1st LDS Ward.
Funeral services will be Saturday, Jan. 12, at 1 p.m. at Fausett Mortuary, 680 E. 100 South, Price. Friends and family may call Friday, Jan. 11, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Fausett Mortuary and 45 minutes prior to services. Interment the Huntington City Cemetery.
