Ray Downard


PRICE – Ray William Downard, age 92, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2007, in Orem.
He was born Nov. 2, 1915 in Price to Arnel William and Olga Richelmann Downard. Married Lucille Anderson on July 22, 1937 in Price, later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple.
Together, they raised two children and one foster son in their favorite town of Price.
Ray was an amazing person. He was never too busy to help someone in need.
He supported his family by working as a building contractor.
Ray served in the community as the Carbon County assessor, a member of the first Jeep posse (search and rescue team) in Price and as the president of the Price Chamber of Commerce.
You can see the fruits of his labors to this day as he was instrumental in the founding and eventual success of the Price prehistoric museum, where he also served as chairman of the bBoard.
He loved history and nature.
Ray is survived by his wife, Lucille; son, Jerry (Vonda) Downard; daughter, Linda (Ralph) Dent; foster son, John (Gail) Zarkis; eight grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service Dec. 12, 11:30 a.m., Price 5th LDS Ward Chapel, 545 East 400 North. Family will be at the church Wednesday from 10 to 11:15 a.m. Friends are welcome at Mitchell Funeral Home daily. Interment, Price City Cemetery.


Louise P. Funk


FERRON – Louise Page Funk, 85, passed away Dec. 9, 2007 in Ferron.
Louise was born on Aug. 26, 1922 in Slaterville to John Henry Page and Mary Lucinda Bingham. She was the youngest of three daughters.
Louise grew up in Huntsville, where she attended school until high school. She graduated from West High School in Salt Lake City in 1940.
Louise married Air Force pilot Randall Anderson in 1943. She was widowed several months later when Randall’s plane was shot down during WWII.
On Dec. 2, 1944, she married Jack Jesse Funk in Salt Lake City. They spent most of their married life in Ferron, where they raised five sons. Jack passed away July 27, 1983.
Louise worked for many years at Singleton’s Grocery Store in Ferron and then became the dietary manager at the Emery County Care and Rehabilitation Center. After retirement, she served on the center’s board of directors for 20 years.
In 1985-86, Louise served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Los Angeles, Calif. She worked for many years as a temple worker at the Manti LDS Temple.
Louise was known as a wonderful cook and she was known for her beautiful afghans. She loved spending time at the family cabin at Ferron Reservoir, fishing and hunting.
Louise is survived by her five sons, Craig W. (Myrlena), J. Brent (Norma) and Phil J., all of Ferron; Don R (Linda) of West Jordan and John H. of Salt Lake City; her sister, Christy Phippen of Pleasant View; sister-in-law, Genevieve Anderton of Salt Lake City; 17 grandchildren, 57 great-grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by both parents and her sister, Emeline.
Funeral services will be Dec. 13 at noon at the Millsite LDS Ward Meetinghouse, 200 North State (Highway 10) in Ferron. A viewing will be Wednesday evening, Dec. 12, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Fausett Mortuary in Castle Dale and Thursday one hour prior to the services at the church. Interment will be in the Ferron City Cemetery.


Jonnita Kae Oliver


LAWRENCE – Our precious sweet little girl, Jonnita Kae Oliver, age 28, died Dec. 7, 2007, in Lawrence.
She was born Nov. 14, 1979.
Jonnita enjoyed camping and spending time outdoors.
She was always surrounded by many friends.
She loved spending time with her daughter, Jaylyn, and her grandpa and grandma.
She has now been reunited with her best friend, her grandma, Carol.
She had a very special relationship with her brother, Jake.
Jonnita is survived by her daughter, Jaylyn; mother and father, Tracy and Wayde Nielsen; brother and sisters, Jake, Cassie Jo and Martee Rae; and grandpa, John. She was preceded in death by her grandma, Carol; and uncle, Jed.
Funeral services Dec. 12 at 11 a.m. at the Huntington 5th LDS Ward Church, 115 South 400 East. Visitation Dec. 11 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Fausett Mortuary in Castle Dale and Wednesday one hour prior to the services at the church. Interment will be at the Lawrence Cemetery.


Nicholas J. Beardall


PRICE – Nicholas J. Beardall, age 76 of Price, husband of Beverly B. Beardall, passed away Saturday, Dec. 8, 2007.
Funeral services will be Dec. 11 at 11 a.m. at the Price 4th LDS Ward Chapel, 545 East 400 North.
Interment will follow at Price City Cemetery under the direction of Fausett Mortuary.
