Cleon O. Killpack
ST. GEORGE / FERRON – Cleon Olsen Killpack, 84, died peacefully in St. George on Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2007.
She was born on Sept. 23, 1923 in Emery to Raymond Peter and Eudean Worthington Olsen. She married Glendon Ray Killpack Jr. on June 11, 1942 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Her husband passed away on Nov. 26, 2003.
One of Cleon’s greatest accomplishments in life was graduating from Utah State University in Logan at the age of 50. She used her degree to become a third grade teacher. She was dearly loved by all the many children whom she taught.
Cleon loved quilting and working on genealogy. She also wrote many enjoyable stories and poems. She also enjoyed the family reunions which were held at the Ferron Reservoir.
Ray and Cleon served an LDS public relations mission in the Colorado-Denver mission and, upon their return, were ordinance workers at the Manti LDS Temple.
She was a secretary to the project manager in charge of building Joes Valley Dam.
She is survived by her two sons and two daughters, Robert Ray (Shauna) Killpack of Ivins; Russell Keith (Connie) Killpack of San Diego, Calif.; Nina Jean (Michael) Bleazard of Duchesne; and Faye (Clark J.) Hubbard of St. George; 12 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren; and her brother, Earl (Dixie) Olsen of Salt Lake City. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Marvell Kent Olsen.
Funeral services were Dec 1. at the old LDS Church in Ferron. Interment was in the Ferron City Cemetery under the direction of Metcalf Mortuary..

Desmond C. Peckham
PRICE – Desmond Charles Peckham passed away peacefully Nov. 29, 2007 with his wife and daughter by his side.
He was born in Midvale on April 8, 1915 to Charles James and Florence Elsie Grout Peckham. Grew up in Midvale and graduated from Jordan High School. He married Louise Boulter on Feb. 13, 1935.
During the Depression, Des worked for the CCC, building many campgrounds in the national forests. He worked for the Rio Grande Railroad from 1936 to 1976.
Des and Louise traveled extensively after his retirement, visiting Alaska, Oregon, Washington and Death Valley, Calif.
He was a longtime member of the Helper Lions Club and served as president several times. He and Louise travelled with the Lions Club to Australia, New Zealand, Hawaii, Japan and the Bahamas.
Dad was a great craftsman, using diamond willow to make canes, lamps and many other items. He would refuse to sell the items he made, choosing instead to give them away.
He also spent many hours working on his yard and garden.
Des and Louise were parents to seven wonderful children.
He is survived by Louise, his loving wife of 72 years; sons, Desmond Gerald (Anne), James Michael (Leena); daughters, RaeLene (Darrell) Beckstrom, Joyce Greco, Dianna (Jerry) Tanner, Penny Tupper; daughter in-law, Sherrie; 31 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren; sisters, Gwen Dembroz and Pearl Rand; and his loving hound dog, Oreo. Preceded in death by his parents; son, Royce Ivan Peckham; two brothers and three sisters.
The family wants to express thanks to the staff at Castleview Hospital for caring for Dad in his time of need and also to Parkdale Care Center for caring for him the past three years.
Funeral services will be Dec. 4, 11 a.m., at the Helper LDS Stake Center, 150 Ridgeway. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral Tuesday at the church. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery in Helper under the direction of Fausett Mortuary.
Fern Hyatt Anderson
KENILWORTH – Our loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, Fern Anderson, age 84, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, December 1, 2007.
She was born Aug. 11, 1923 in Sego to Dea and Gwen Lund Hyatt. Married Merlin Anderson Oct. 26, 1945 in Kenilworth; he died Dec. 10, 1982.
Fern was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she was a Primary teacher for many years.
She was an avid fan of both the Utah Jazz and the Denver Broncos.
She was a 50-year member of the birthday club and the Canasta club. She always looked forward to her twice a year trips to Wendover.
Fern loved sitting at the kitchen table enjoying her coffee.
She was a lifelong resident of Kenilworth, where she was loved by all.
Fern will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by four sons and two daughters, Eddie (Margit) Anderson, Mt. Carmel, Ill.:Jerry (Kathy) Anderson, Elmo; Randy (Gayla) Anderson, West Valley City; Connie (Paul) Burdis, Price; Merlynn and Richard Anderson, both of Kenilworth, brother, Garth (Marie) Hyatt, Glenwood Springs, Colo.; 11 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, June; and son, Kent “Bucky” Anderson.
Funeral service Friday, Dec. 7, 11 a.m., at Helper LDS Stake Center. Family will be at Mitchell Funeral Home Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and at the church Friday one hour prior to service. Interment, Mount Pleasant Cemetery at 3 p.m.
Randall Brian Carmine
HELPER – Randall Brian Carmine, 41, died Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2007, at his parents’ home in Rock Springs, Wyo., of unknown causes.
He was born July 2, 1966 in Rock Spring, Wyo., the son of Robert and Mary Carmine.
He attended school in Rock Springs and was a member of the varsity Rock Springs High School wrestling team. He took many awards in the peewee wrestling program.
His interests included being an avid hunter and fisherman, outdoor sports and spending time with his family.
Carmine was an avid golfer and was a member of the Rock Springs High School golf team. He won the men’s Star Valley Ranch Championship at age 17 with a four handicap.
Carmine is survived by parents, Bob and Mary Carmine of Rock Springs, Wyo.; wife, Colleen (Critchlow) Carmine of Helper; stepson, Hunter Pyper; stepdaughter, Dyllan Pyper; two brothers, Robbie and his wife, Gail, Carmine, Green River; sons, Robert, Ryan, Christopher, Bradley and Rick of Rock Springs, Wyo.; daughters, Kayla and Chantel; three sisters, Cindy Petersen and her husband, Vance, of Rock Springs, Wyo., and children Robert and Taryn; Claudette Harris and her husband, Jack, of San Diego,Calif, and son, Zachary; and Candace Bedard and her husband, Mark, of Rock Springs, Wyo., and daughters, Lexi and Alyssa; uncle, Francis Carr of Custer, S.D.; and many cousins. He was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Lena and Doc Maxwell and Helen Carmine; maternal grandparents, Earl and Ruth Carr; and aunt, Betty Carr.
Funeral services were Nov. 27 in Rock Springs, Wyo.
An open house will be Dec. 5 from 6 to 8 p.m. Family and friends may call at the home of Randy and Colleen Carmine and Floyd Seal, 4544 N. 2000 West, Spring Glen.
