The CEU men’s basketball team headed to western Wyoming for a pair of games Nov 16 and 17.
They were unable to put a win on the board, dropping both games. On the 16, they lost 83-91 to Western Wyoming Community College. The next day they lost to Casper 66-77.
The Eagles played the WWCC Mustangs close in the first half during the Friday night match up. They trailed by five at the half. They continued to keep the game within reach during the second half of play, but the lead grew to eight in the end and they went down to defeat. CEU shot 47 percent for the game, slightly edging out WWCC, but the Eagles gave up 14 turnovers to only five from the Mustangs. The Mustangs also got to the line more often than CEU and had 12 more points from the foul shot.
Stephen Franklin led the CEU scores with 21 points. Felix Casperi and Aaron England chipped in 12 for the starters. Darington Hobson came off the bench and added 10. All of the Eagle players scored in the game. Franklin had the best outside shot with three from beyond the arc.
The Saturday night game was lost in the first half for the Eagles. They let themselves get into a 10 point deficit by the break. They came out and went toe to toe with the Thunderbirds in the second half, but were unable to gain any ground. In the end they lost by 11.
No one for the Eagles was on fire as only three players edged into double figures. Casperi with12, Franklin at 11 and Rafael Moreira pouring in 10 were the best on the night for CEU.
