Nathan Hepworth goes head first during his first 11 dive meet. |
Carbon hosted their annual invitational dive meet on Nov. 17 and left the competition licking their wounds.
The Dinos took first for the third straight meet at a competition that attracted nine other schools and 30 divers from within the state.
Travis Hobbs placed second as an individual according to Carbon Coach Stew Foster.
“We had boys and girls who placed high in the junior nationals, all the way down to some that are just beginning,” said Foster.
Brett Wells place fourth and received a trophy along with Hobbs.
“Both boys are looked excellent on their two and a half forward somersault as well as many of their other dives,” said Foster.
Kent Olson just missed the podium for sixth place by a couple of points, taking seventh in the competition. Nick Torres took 10th in boys diving.
“Nick had some low scores on five of his dives that are usually good dives,” said Foster.
Kaleb Kulow led the ninth grade boys by placing 12th in the competition. According to Foster, Kulow had a personal best score at the meet.
Dwight Denny and T.J. Bettino placed 13th and 16th respectively, with Nathan Hepworth splitting the pair in 15th place.
“This was Nathan’s first 11 dive meet this year,” said Foster.
In the six dive competition Kenny Hobbs placed third in the boys meet and Megan Barnett placed third in the girls division.
The teams next meet will be Dec. 1 at South Summit
