Travis Hobbs dives in a meet last year. He won the Nov. 8 meet. |
The Carbon Dinos boys team took first at a South Summit qualifying meet on Nov. 8.
Travis Hobbs won the competition with a score of 358.
“He still needs to clean up two or three of his dives to go over 400 points, which he is really capable of,” said coach Stew Foster.
Kent Olsen finished fourth just seven points ahead of teammate Nick Torres, who finished in fifth.
“Nick is looking good and just has to work on his form and raising the difficulty of his dives,” said Foster.
Kaleb Kulow went from doing six dives last week to 11 dives this week, said Foster.
“He did not fail any dives and Kaleb has only been working out for less than two weeks, he finished sixth overall, which is great,” said Foster.
Dwight Denny placed seventh with no failed dives.
“Right now we have three ninth graders with a great chance to qualify for state,” said Foster.
Nathan Hepworth and Kenny Hobbs placed second and third in the six dive competition.
The teams next meet will be at home in Price on Nov. 17. Warm up will take place at 10 a.m. with the meet stating at 11 a.m.
