Kris Anthony Poloni
PRICE – Kris Anthony Poloni died unexpectedly at his home on Nov. 5, 2007.
He was born in Price to Jeff and Debora Berry Poloni on June 9, 1984.
Graduated from Notre Dame Regional School, Carbon High School, and attended the College of Eastern Utah.
Kris enjoyed music, playing guitar, snowboarding, dogs and fishing, especially with his grandparents.
He struggled through the last few years of his life, but always had the unconditional love of his mother who was also his number one supporter.
Kris was a member of Notre Dame Parish, where he was an alter server while attending Notre Dame Regional School.
Kris is survived by his parents, Price; sister, Jeana, Spokane, Wash.; grandmother, Fosca Poloni, Price; grandparents, Fred and Dorothy Berry; uncle, Dale Berry, Grand Junction, Colo.; uncle and aunt, John and Toni Colosimo; cousin, Dina Colosimo, Portland, Ore.; cousin, Kim Colosimo, Seattle, Wash.; godparents, John Christensen, Price; and Delores Slavensky, Helper. Preceded in death by grandfather, Arco Poloni; and uncle, Ben Poloni.
Funeral services, Saturday, Nov. 10, at 1 p.m., Mitchell Funeral Home, 233 East Main Street, Price, where friends and family may call one hour prior to services. Interment, Price City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Notre Dame Building Fund, 160 N. Carbon Avenue, Price, UT 84501.
Louie Craven
PRICE – Our helper and friend to all, Louis Kenneth Craven Sr., passed away Nov. 5, 2007 at his home in Price due to heart failure.
He was born June 10, 1957 in Price to John A. and Rose Oliveto Craven.
Louis loved snowmobiling, the cabin in Scofield, his Harley, dogs, guns, boating at Lake Powell, family dinners and get togethers and, most of all, his kids.
Louis was active in the Carbon County Search and Rescue, Knights of Columbus, and a member of the Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church.
He attended Notre Dame School and Carbon High School.
He was highly regarded by many members of the Price community.
He worked at Mendenhall/Craven’s Auto Parks, S & S Battery, Arch Coal and also in the Vernal oil fields.
Louis is survived by son, Louis Kenneth Craven Jr.; daughter, Cozette Angelina Craven; mother, Rose Oliveto Craven; brother, Arthur John (Vickie) Craven; sister, Jayceen Craven (Brad) Walker; dogs, Bella, Brutus, Kifi; and trusty steeds, Mustang Sally and Ranger.
Funeral Mass Saturday, Nov. 10, 10 a.m., Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church, 210 North Carbon Avenue. Vigil service Friday evening, 7 p.m., at the church. Family will be at Notre Dame Church Friday and Saturday one hour prior to services. Committal service, Price City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made in Louis Craven Sr.’s name at Zion’s Bank, 45 South Carbon Avenue, Price, UT 84501 to help defray funeral expenses.

Duane E. Taylor
PRICE – Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend, Duane W. Taylor, 69, passed away Nov. 7, 2007 after a year-long battle with brain cancer.
Born April 25, 1938 in Salt Lake City to Wallace J. and Marjorie McBeth Taylor.
Graduated from South High School, where he was a member of the ROTC, and joined the paratroopers in the Utah National Guard after graduation.
He married Joan Mash on Sept.1, 1959 in Salt Lake City at the Cathedral of the Madeleine.
Duane rode with the Salt Lake County Sheriff’s Posse many years, winning multiple competition awards.
He worked with his father at the family-owned Wally Taylor TrucKar Service station in Salt Lake City. He went to work at Skagg’s Drug Center, eventually becoming a store manager in Price. He opened and co-owned Cleo’s Fabrics for several years and eventually worked as the collection manager at the College of Eastern Utah Prehistoric Museum. While there, he developed a love of paleontology and the prehistory of Utah.
Several years ago, he and Joan began practicing music with friends every Monday night at their home and eventually started the Nine Mile Players. They performed for groups and gatherings around the area until just recently.
He enjoyed shooting and was known to his competitive cowboy shooting friends as “Buck.”
He enjoyed scouring the hills of Carbon and Emery counties with museum employees searching for fossils and dinosaur bones and volunteered there for many years. He was a founding member of the local chapters of Utah Statewide Archeological Society and Utah Friends of Paleontology.
He was partners in T and L Livestock with his close friend, Ross Lindsay, and founded T and A Sweeping with local businessman Jon Anast.
Survived by his wife, Joan, Price; daughters, Christine (Blair) Allred, Salt Lake City, Karen (Layne) Miller, Price, Cathy (Todd) Richardson, Price; grandchildren, Taylor Miller, Ashley (Ed) Elliott, Austin Allred, Travis, Tanner and Trey Richardson; sister, DonnaAnn Fellows, brother, Robert J. Taylor; five step- grandchildren, Scott, Aimee, Brandon, Jennifer, Melisa; and many loving step-great-grandchildren, foster grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Graveside service, Saturday, Nov. 10 at 11 a.m., Cliffview Cemetery. Family will be at Mitchell Funeral Home, 233 East Main in Price Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 10 to 10:45 a.m.
In remembrance of Duane’s love of paleontology, contributions may be made to the CEU Prehistoric Museum.
Jack Lamar Wimmer
PRICE – Jack Lamar, age 72, passed away Nov. 6, 2007 surrounded by his family at Utah Valley Regional Hospital in Provo after complications from pneumonia.
Jack was born Nov. 7, 1934 in Duchesne, the fifth child of Harold J. and Lucille (Wilcox) Wimmer. He married Thelda Thacker on June 18, 1965 in the Manti LDS Temple.
Jack loved horses, hunting and Nine-Mile Canyon.
He suffered an industrial accident in August 1972, which left him paralyzed. He suffered and endured 35 years confined to a wheelchair without complaint or criticism.
Before his accident, he made a living as a heavy equipment operator.
He was a member of the LDS Church, where he served in many capacities.
He especially loved when friends came by to visit or take him for a ride in the country.
He graduated from Duchesne High School in 1952.
He is survived by his wife, Thelda; daughters, Denette (Steven) Burge of Price; Gayla (Bruce) Savage of Pocatello, Idaho; Karra (Steve) Hillam of Price; 11 grandchildren; and nine brothers and sisters, Edythe Marett of Duchesne; L. Kent Wimmer of Salt Lake City; Jean (Doug) Bills of Salt Lake City; J.D. (Susanne) Wimmer of Wellington and Upalco; Arlene (Don) Hill of Boulder, Colo.; Elaine Goodrich of Price; H. Lee (Connie) Wimmer of Pleasant Grove; Sally (Paul) Henry of Richfield; and Max R. Wimmer of Seattle, Wash. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Keith, Robert and William.
Funeral services will be Saturday, Nov. 10, at noon at the Price 11th LDS Ward Chapel, 300 West 500 South. Family and friends may call from 10 to 11:30 a.m. prior to services at the chapel. Interment will be in the Price City Cemetery under the direction of Fausett Mortuary.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Primary Children’s Medical Center.

Reed A. Bartlett
Reed A. Bartlett, 79, of Loveland, Colo., formerly of Fort Collins, died Nov. 3, 2007.
He was born July 3, 1928 in Sunnyside to Rulon and Bertha Bartlett. He graduated from Carbon High School in Price.
He joined the US Navy in 1946, was a medic and specialized in medical photography. He was honorably discharged in 1948.
On July 30, 1950, Reed married Goldie (Chris) Marakis in Price.
Reed lived and raised his family in Ft. Collins, Colo. He spent most of his career with HP as a supervisor and molding technician.
Reed was an outdoorsman and an avid fisherman. Reed was foremost a kind and gentle man.
Reed is survived by his ex-wife, Chris Bartlett of Ft. Collins Colo.; one daughter, Patricia Bartlett of Joplin, Mo.; two sons, Steve and his wife, Cindy, of Ft. Collins, Colo.; Reed and his wife, Mary, of Loveland; his brother Alan and wife Vanice Bartlett of Tempe, Ariz.; and four grandchildren, Blake and Molly Bartlett, Talor Gavin and Christina Bartlett. He was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Barbara.
By request, his celebration of life will be presented by his family at his favorite fishing hole.

Gertrude Trujillo
PRICE – Our loving mother, Gertrude Aspiasu Trujillo, died Oct. 21, 2007 at Castleview Hospital. She was 92 years old.
She was born Feb. 23, 1915 in Mesa, Colo.
She had a good life. She outlived three husbands.
She spent about 35 years in the nursing profession and her last few years at the Heirloom Inn in Price, where she had many friends.
She enjoyed all the games they played and was always very competitive.
Mom is survived by two sons and three daughters, Lucy Hienbaugh of Zion Ponderosa; Bill Hyde of Mack, Colo.; Roy Hyde of Helper; Betty Cole of Montrose, Colo.; Marie of Glenwood Springs, Colo.; son, John Hyde, who was killed in an auto accident in New Mexico; son, Bill Hyde, followed her in death on Oct. 27 following a battle with cancer. Also survived by 24 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.
Interment ,Oct. 26 at Memorial Gardens in Grand Junction, Colo.
Josephine Nucich Buttrey
WEST JORDAN – Josephine Nucich Buttrey was born to John & Mary Kochar Nucich on July 23, 1919. She passed away peacefully November 4, 2007 while surrounded by her family.
She married Ezra H. Buttrey on Jan. 12, 1942 in Oakley. He passed away on Dec. 12, 1996.
She was a member of the Catholic Church. She truly loved the Lord.
She spent many years in Hiawatha and a few years in Price. She spent the last 20 years in West Jordan with her daughter, Kathleen.
She is survived by her daughters, Kathleen (Ellis) Johnson, Charlotte (Don) Childs, John (Brenda) Buttrey, Lisa and Brandon Bytheway; sisters, Rose Bartlett, Coal Hill; Helen and Alice Nucich, Taylorsville; and Albert Nucich, Detroit, Mich. She was blessed with 16 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-granchildren. Preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Helen Marie; brother, John Jr.; sisters, Mary Shaw, Annie Pappas.
She will be greatly missed by her loved ones. She was a special and devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
The family would like to thank the staff at Beehive House, CareSource the Residence, Dr. David Zackerson and staff.
Funeral services will be Nov. 8 at 10 a.m., St. Joseph the Worker, 7405 South Redwood Road. The viewing and vigil was Wednesdayat Redwood Memorial Mortuary, Redwood Road.
