Phones All Hooked Up, E. Utah can Talk Anywhere They Want

By Sun Advocate

A hundred years ago in the month of November…

The following article was originally published in a Thursday edition of the Eastern Utah Advocate from November 1907. This is a reprint of that article.

EASTERN UTAH LINES WORK WITH BELL COMPANY

Telephone communication was last Sunday evening established with Salt Lake City and the outside world by the completion of the. gap from Tucker and Colton by the Rocky Mountain Bell Company with the lines of the Eastern Utah company at Castle Gate.
In the forenoon President R.G. Miller of the local company was called up, much to his surprise, by President Wallace of the Bell company at Salt Lake City. They talked on various subjects and later President Miller conversed with several friends at Zion.
This over and numerous congratulations, President Miller was connected with Butte, Mont. The conversation with General Manager Murray of Bell lines, who is there at the present time, being plain and distinct as though they were in the same room talking.
Monday morning a representative of the Bell company left Price on horseback and is now inspecting the new line from here to Spanish Fork, after which it is to be accepted by the Bell company. This, through with, and a report made, stations are to be established.
However, it is now possible to talk almost anywhere. Of course the lines are not as yet in perfect working order, but they soon will be. Colton, Tucker, Spanish Fork and other points between here and Salt Lake are working nicely with all Eastern Utah.
