In 1981, Helper, Utah became home to the Union Gospel Mission.
The Mission was established in hopes of creating a safe haven for local homeless individuals. In the year 2000, the Mission was transformed into what now is the Golden Rule Mission.
The facility provides a clean and safe environment to house homeless men, women, and children. The mission provides a warm place to sleep and healthy meals to those in need.
This year the mission has provided 7,230 free meals to its residents and needy community members.
The Helper facility offers food boxes monthly to needy families.
The mission provided 2962 nights lodging during the current year. It also provides open A.A. meetings.
The living space assists the homeless in finding and securing permanent housing and free referral services to other community resources available to homeless individuals.
The mission provides case management services to help homeless reach their goals of becoming self-sufficient and obtain employment or other financial resources.
The Golden Rule Mission operates a thrift store which helps meet financial needs of the shelter. Approximately 90 percent of the donations are received from individuals in Carbon and Emery counties. All donations are completely tax deductible.
If individuals would like to make a donation or would like to have the opportunity to volunteer their services, please call 435 472-2631.
