Non-emergency transportation can make a difference in the lives of others as well as for the community.
Young or old, rich or poor – health is not a given. So many times we take our health and our transportation for granted. Without transportation, health care is impossible. This program works to assist people with access to their medical appointments. We have transported infants, children, teenagers, those suffering with a chronic disease, individuals who are mentally and/or physically challenged, and our elderly population.
Care-A-Van utilizes volunteers to transport people to out of the area appointments. The van operates as a shuttle to local appointments in the Carbon County area as well and has been in operation since 2002. Last year 127 individuals utilized this door to door service for transportation to dialysis, physical therapy, local appointments, and for specialized care in the Provo and Salt Lake areas.
It isn’t until we are faced with illness or a tragic event that we realize just how important transportation can be. Something we once took for granted may become a hardship.
Care-A-Van takes pride in serving our community. The funding received from the United Way of Southeastern Utah assists with transportation to specialized healthcare outside of our local community. Without this partnership, individuals would not be able to meet their health care needs.
Care-A-Van is a success, and the United Way of Southeastern Utah plays an important part in it.
